Special Worship Services

HOLY WEEK 2013

Palm Sunday, March 24 8:00 and 9:30 a.m.

Church begins on the patio with the blessings of palms. There is no dismissal at this service; it is the beginning of the long single liturgy that concludes with the dismissal at the Easter Vigil.

Maundy Thursday, March 28 Noon and 6:00 p.m.

Simple service at noon

Foot-washing, Agape Meal, Holy Eucharist, and the stripping of the Altar begin at 6:00 p.m.

After worship concludes, the overnight prayer vigil begins

Good Friday, March 29 - Noon

An ecumenical service of prayer, readings, and hymnody, with our

fellow Christians from Church of the Foothills, Aldersgate Methodist, and

Tustin Prebyterian churches

Holy Saturday, March 30 - 8:00 a.m.

The brief Holy Saturday service precedes decorating the sanctuary

The Great Vigil of Easter, 7:30 p.m.

The Queen of Feasts! This is the night, as we sing in the Exultet -

death is conquered; Resurrection is set loose in the world!

This ancient service unfolds in four parts:

The lighting of the new fire

The recounting of the stories of God's people

Baptism, or the renewal of our baptismal vows

The first Eucharist of Easter, with the return of the Alleluia

It is THE high point of the Christian year! Come rejoice with us!

Easter Sunday, 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

Festive Choral Eucharist with brass and tympani

(No incense at the 8:00 a.m. service)

Jesus Christ is risen today! Alleluia!

We celebrate with glorious music and profound liturgy,

followed by an Easter Egg Hunt for the kids

and a chanmpagne brunch for the adults!
